Welcome to Townhill Nursery.
We are very proud to have opened our nursery provision at Townhill Infant School and Nursery in early 2023. We are pleased to welcome visits from families who are interested in coming to our nursery though out our session.
The Nursery is based in a purpose-built independent classroom which is bright, spacious, and well-resourced to meet the needs of the children in our care. The children have the opportunity to experience additional resources within the school environment enhancing their learning potential.
We offer a variety of nursery sessions that meet the needs of our children and families within the local area. We offer half day sessions, full day sessions for all children including those who are accessing Early Education Funding.
We have a dedicated staff team with a wealth of early years’ experience working directly with children to deliver a varied and exciting curriculum, which is a balance of adult led learning opportunities and children’s choice of play activities. Adult led activities take advantage of our well-resourced school, library, two outside play areas and the school grounds.
We use the EYFS statutory guidance framework to plan and provide opportunities which will help children to make progress in all areas of learning. Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. Our learning intentions cover the education and care of all children in early years provision including children with special educational needs and disabilities. Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured.
The 7 areas of learning are:
We keep a Learning Journey for each child, assessing your child’s progress continuously, keeping written observations, photos, and examples of their work in Learning Journals. We welcome parental input and provide regular opportunities at parent meetings for you to view their progress and receive an update.
We complete assessment summaries of children’s achievement based on your child’s Learning Journal record and our knowledge of the children. We undertake these assessment summaries twice in a school year, as well as times of transition, when they go on to school.
We work closely with the Year R team to provide a seamless transition into the school setting.
We look forward to welcoming both you and your child to our nursery.
