Why Choose Townhill Infant School for your child?

We are delighted that following our Ofsted inspection in June 2008 the inspectors have judged that we are a school that is 'outstanding' in all aspects of the inspection framework! This judgement was validated again in Summer 2011.  The Trust Director of Standards and other Senior Leaders within our academy trust also undertake regular reviews of our school improvement, progress and priorities and have also rated Townhill Infant School as outstanding.  You can read the full Ofsted report and the validation summary, along with the Trust Review findings by clicking on the links on the Key Information page.

We believe that our school is fantastic but don't just take our word for it! Here are some comments from the parents survey:

  • I would like to thank all the staff for their neverending and tireless devotion to their pupils and parents.  Townhill is blessed with some of the best and I am proud of the school's achievements.
  • My child loves coming to school and loves telling us what he has been learning every day.
  • Teachers recognise what makes learning interesting so that children love learning.
  • Warm, approachable staff.
  • The school and grounds are maintained beautifully.
  • We can clearly see our daughter is receiving fantastic care and education.
  • Friendly, approachable staff.
  • Staff encourage children to behave and be kind to each other.
  • All children are valued.

As our catchment area is made up of addresses that fall within the wards of both Hampshire County Council and Southampton City Council this has implications on how you apply for your child's school place for Year R. If you pay your council tax to Southampton City Council you need to apply for a school place via their admissions department.  However, if you pay your council tax to Eastleigh Borough Council you must apply for your child's school place through Hampshire County Council.

If you would like your child to attend Townhill Infant School and they are already attending another school then please contact a member of the office team on 023 8047 4835 who will be happy to guide you through the application process.

Consultation for Reducing PAN for Year R Intake for September 2021 and 2022

The governors of Townhill Infant School are now consulting on a reduction in their PAN (Published Admission Number) for the Year R intake for September 2021.  An in-year variation request has been sent to the EFSA.  It is intended to reduce the PAN from 90 to 60.  The governors will also be consulting in a few weeks on a PAN of 60 for the 2022/23 academic year.  The proposed reduction is necessary due to the significant regeneration project currently taking place in the school's catchment area which means a significant proportion of the catchment is currently being demolished, before the rebuilding programme gets under way.  Families have been moved out of the area and will not be able to move back until the project has been completed - hopefully in time for the 2023/24 academic year.  This has significantly reduced the number of children applying for places at the school and the school can no longer sustain three classes in Year R from September 2021.

If you have any comments on the proposed reduction in PAN for September 2021 admissions, please send them to the schools admissions consultant, Mrs Jo Glenton, at the following email address: The consultation will close on 8th December 2021.
