Remote Learning Offer

Dear Parents,

I hope that you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well.

I am writing to you to inform you of the finalised plans for our remote learning starting on Monday January 11th.

All of the remote learning will now be accessed through the school website. To find the learning for your child please go to the school website and click on the children tab on the sign post, then click on class pages. After that click on your child's year group. You will then see a Remote learning title and under this will be a range of subjects for your child's year group. Click on the subject you wish to open, for example phonics, and then click on the day of the week you wish to use.

There will be daily teaching videos posted on the website for a range of subjects.

The following subjects will have teaching videos each day. Within these will be a teacher from your child's year group teaching and modelling the learning for that day. At various times  there will be pause points for the children to discuss or practice what is being taught. At the end the teacher will set a longer task for your child to complete. It is this task that we ask you to email to the teacher daily using the class email addresses that I gave you in my previous correspondence.

To remind you they are;

cmclass@townhill-inf.net (Mrs Miles)

hkclass@townhill-inf.net (Miss Kett)

ksclass@townhill-inf.net (Mrs Russell and Mrs Stewart)

giclass@townhill-inf.net  (Mrs Innes)

aiclass@townhill-inf.net  (Mr Innes)

jmclass@townhill-inf.net (Mr Mcgowan)

Each day the following lessons will be available;

Year R - Phonics, Maths, English, Topic. There will also be either an additional Music or PSHE lesson each day.

The year R team will be uploading 2 phonic and 2 maths videos each day and will contact you via Marvellous me to inform you which of these teaching videos is the one to access for your child. For English,T opic, Music or PSHE all children will access the same teaching video.

Year 1 - Phonics, English, Maths, Topic, Reading.

Year 2= SPAG ( Spelling, punctuation and grammar), Phonics, English, Maths and Topic.

Nurture year 1 - Phonics please use the phonics teaching video CM group (in year R folder), For English and Maths please click on your child's year group and you will then see Nurture year 1 English and Maths. For topic/reading please use the topic and reading teaching video for all year 1 children.

Nurture year 2 - Phonics please use the phonics teaching video for year 1. For English and Maths please click on your child's year group and you will then see Nurture year 2 English and Maths. For Topic/SPAG please use the Topic and SPAG teaching video for all year 2 children.

We will also be sending each week, via Marvellous Me,  a weekly online reading book using Oxford owls and spellings. We would ask that your child reads their book each day for 10 to 15 minutes and practices their spellings for 10 minutes daily using the LOOK, COVER, READ, CHECK approach we use in school. They will need to read the word, cover it then try to spell it and then check if they are correct.

Each Friday your child's class teacher will look at all the work they have received from your child and provide written feedback via email with comments to support the children's learning. As per the guidance we have received we will also be contacting those parents of children who the teacher has not received any learning for. This will be to see if there is any further support or any issues which may need to be given or addressed.

If you need any support or advice from myself or your child's teacher please do not hesitate to contact us through your child's class email address as both myself and your child's teacher will receive this.

I know that having to complete remote learning at home with your child can be challenging and stressful as well as working from home or supporting other children with the same thing. Whilst we are providing what we have been asked to do if you cannot complete all of the work with your children then I would suggest focussing on the core subjects of reading, Maths and English if this helps balance the workload at home.

If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

I hope that you and all your loved ones continue to stay safe and well.

Yours sincerely

Beverly Corbin - Headteacher
